Your Questions About Fixer Upper Homes For Sale

Nancy asks…

why is it that i cant find a web site that i can trust when looking for a home for sale?

of the the web sites i've looked at, some of the homes for sale, in foreclosure etc., are in them, but after talking to the agents, they have no idea why some of these homes are listed. example: one site lists a 3bd, 2bh, for $7,000. in another the same house is listed for $287,468. i talked to the agent and he said its not even for sale yet, and shouldnt be on there. i'm looking for a fixer upper or something i can afford, and i feel like i'm going in circles.

You should contact and work with a Real Estate Broker. A broker would send you accurate listings for properties you are interested in or give you limited access to the local MLS. Another advantage is the Broker could provide you additional information on a property that you are interested in. As far as the conflicting information on different websites, usually the property information is entered into the local MLS which then gets posted onto free public websites. So any mistakes entered the first time will appear on all websites, whereas when any corrections are made, it may be a while before it gets corrected on the other free websites.

Michael asks…

In relation to my other question...What happened to fixer uppers>?

what happened to people who would buy a fixer upper home to fix up and sell? You know we have an offer on another house, in a better neighbourhood that needs all the fixings but we're not scared and realize we'll make a profit by fixing it up.

So where are those people when looking at my starter home up for sale?

All the agents who have come thru, say nothing but positives and think it's a steal for the price and the size and how modernized we are, we've been told the buyers are just fussy.

The thing is, not many have time to fix anything these days.

Here in Ohio, there are housing areas that advertise: Modest living starting at only 300k!
Modest at 300K, the world has gone nuts!
No one but an investor has time to fix anything for homes. And then, you have to be in an
'up and coming'area for it to work.

It's rough...
Instead of selling, have you considered renting your house while getting a new one?

Granted, it's like playing Monopoly for real, but in some cases it works.

Wishing the best.

Ps. Don't buy the Michelob Specialty beers. They suck.
